- Balance Number
- A number derived from the first letter of each name in your full birth name. Describes how you instinctively handle conflict, stress, and emotional upheaval.
- Birth Name
- The full legal name on your original birth certificate. The foundational input for all name-based Pythagorean calculations (Destiny, Soul Urge, Personality, etc.).
- Capstone
- The last letter of your first name. Reveals how you finish what you start — your follow-through and closure style.
- Chaldean System
- An older numerology tradition originating in ancient Mesopotamia. Uses a sound-based, non-sequential letter-to-number mapping (with the digit 9 left unassigned) and typically reads the current name rather than the birth name. The main alternative to the Pythagorean system.
- Challenge Numbers
- Four numbers derived from the differences between your reduced birth month, day, and year. Represent the obstacles and inner conflicts you confront at different stages of life.
- Cornerstone
- The first letter of your first name. Reveals how you instinctively approach new situations and initiate action.
- Destiny Number (Expression)
- Calculated from every letter in your full birth name. Names the inherent talents you carry and the goals your life is set up to express.
- First Vowel
- The first vowel in your first name. Reveals your instinctive, gut-level reaction to new people and situations — the inner response that fires before conscious thought.
- Karmic Debt Number
- 13, 14, 16, or 19 appearing as an intermediate step in a core calculation. Each names a specific embedded pattern with a corresponding life lesson. See the Karmic Debt deep dive.
- Karmic Lessons
- The digits 1–9 that do NOT appear in your full birth name. Indicate qualities you have not yet developed and where life will press you to grow.
- Life Path Number
- The single most important number in your chart, calculated from your full date of birth. Names the broad arc and themes of your life.
- Master Number
- 11, 22, or 33. When these appear during the reduction of a core calculation, they are not reduced further. They name a heightened, more demanding version of their root single digit.
- Maturity Number
- Sum of your Life Path and Destiny, reduced to a single digit. Describes the integrated self that emerges in the second half of life, typically after age 35–40.
- Personal Year
- Calculated from your birth month, birth day, and the current calendar year. Names the underlying theme of the present twelve months. Runs in a repeating nine-year cycle.
- Personality Number
- Calculated from the consonants in your full birth name. Describes how you present yourself to the world — your outer mask and first impression.
- Pinnacle Numbers
- Four numbers derived from sums (rather than differences) of birth date components. Describe the opportunities and environments that define each major phase of life.
- Pythagorean System
- The dominant modern numerology system, mapping A=1 through I=9, then J=1 again through Z=8. The system this site uses.
- Reduction
- The act of summing the digits of a multi-digit number until you reach a single digit (or stop on a master number 11, 22, or 33). The fundamental operation in numerology.
- Soul Urge (Heart's Desire)
- Calculated from the vowels in your full birth name. Names what you actually want underneath social expectation — your inner motive.
- Subconscious Self
- Count of how many of the nine possible digits appear at least once in your full birth name. Indicates breadth of inner resources and composure under pressure.
